Survivors of the Vizianagaram train accident recalled experiencing sudden jerks as the train they were travelling in applied its brakes several times before the collision that resulted in the death of 14 people. Satyanarayana, one of the survivors, told PTI that the passengers felt a few jerks followed by a huge sound and then everything came to a halt. "We boarded the train at Vizag. Some were going till Bobbili. Suddenly brakes were applied. The train jerked thrice. People began to panic after this," he said. In an astonishing turn of events, a fisherman who was missing for two weeks has been found alive floating in a life raft about 110 km off the west coast of the US.  The US Coast Guard said the search for the missing fishermen was suspended a day earlier, the Morning News reported. The rescuers said the man survived by eating salmon throughout these days.  The man who was not identified, had left Grays Harbor in Washington state on October 12 on the ship. King-TV in Seattle has identified the rescuers as Ryan Planes and his uncle John from Sooke, a town on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. "I saw what looked like a life raft in the distance and ran inside and put the binoculars on him and then he shot off a flare," Ryan told the network. "We pulled him on board. A 40-year-old woman and her two daughters died on Sunday evening when they were run over by the Vande Bharat Express at a manned level crossing in this district while they were crossing it, police said. Superintendent of Police (city) Piyush Kumar Singh said the accident took place when the gates of the Kasampur manned level crossing were closed. He added that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Describing the sequence of events, police said Kankarkhera resident Naresh was pulling a 'rherha' (a type of hand-driven cart), while his wife Mona (40) and their daughters Manisha (14) and Charu (7) were seated at the back side of the 'rehra'. The body of a Los Angeles model was found in her downtown apartment last month stuffed in a refrigerator, with her wrists and ankles tied and mouth gagged, according to the latest autopsy report obtained by the New York Post . 31-year-old Maleesa Mooney was found dead in her luxury apartment on September 12. The LA County Medical Examiner's Office had ruled her death "homicidal violence" earlier this month, but the grizzly details of how her remains were discovered in her apartment were released on Friday in an autopsy report obtained by The Post.  According to the outlet , Ms Mooney had been beaten and bound before being stuffed into her own refrigerator. Apple has sent out invites for the "Scary Fast" event, expected to be the iMacs and MacBooks launch, which is scheduled to take place at the end of this month. According to the invite received by Gadgets360 on Tuesday, the California-based tech giant will hold the special Apple Event on October 30 at 5 pm PT. The live streaming of the event will also be available on the company's official website at apple.com. Storm Aline brought strong winds and heavy rains to much of Spain on Thursday, causing flooding, fallen trees, and traffic disruptions in multiple cities. The downpours also swept through Spain's capital city Madrid, flooding streets and numerous Metro stations. The heavy rainfall caused the closure of several metro lines for hours while regional trains and high-velocity lines suffered delays, news agency Reuters reported.  Banco de Espana metro station in Madrid was also hit by flooding on Thursday that caused waterfalls to form, with water seen cascading down staircases. Roads across the central region were also seen in other clips totally submerged in muddy water. Virali Modi, a disability rights activist, and India's first wheelchair-using model, took to X on Wednesday to share her disappointing experience at a registrar's office in Mumbai. The activist revealed that she went to get married at the Registrar's Office in Khar, Mumbai on October 16 but the office was on the second floor with no access for disabled people. With no lift available, she had to be carried up two flights of stairs for the process. More so, the stairs were steep and railing was loose and rusty and no one offered any help to her. As the nine-day Navratri festival has already begun, a video of women performing a unique form of 'garba' in Gujarat's Rajkot city has captured the attention of social media users. In the clip, several women are seen in traditional 'chaniya choli' attires, performing 'Talwar Ras' or sword-wielding on bikes, scooters, and jeeps. Israeli air strikes on a Gaza hospital compound Tuesday killed at least 200 people, the health ministry in the Hamas-run Palestinian territory said. "Two hundred to 300 displaced people killed in occupation (Israeli) strikes on the yard" of the Ahli Arab hospital in central Gaza, the ministry said. "Hundreds of victims are still under the rubble," it added. The media office of Gaza's Hamas government described the attack as a "war crime". "The hospital was housing hundreds of sick and wounded, and people forcibly displaced from their homes" because of other strikes, a statement said. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the hospital bombing when contacted by AFP. Around 3,000 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes across the Gaza Strip since the war erupted on October 7.
